bbPress 2.3 has changed the way it handles editor. If you enable fancy editor in bbPress options, you will not get full tinyMCE editor as before. To do this, you can now use modules in this plugin to handle topic and reply editors separately. Options include: TinyMCE editor, Media buttons, compact toolbar, WPAutoP filter and size of the editor.

WordPress 3.6 will add some shortcodes that will interfere with the BBCodes (YouTube and Vimeo). So, you can now disable any number of BBCodes this plugin adds to avoid potential conflicts with WordPress or other plugins. Custom views code is improved and updated for better handling of the queries used to get views topics.

GD bbPress Attachments 1.9.2 includes some important changes and fixes: uploader is added at the bottom of the topic/reply form to avoid problem when topic tags are disabled, and saving of some plugin settings fixed. Plugin is tested with bbPress 2.3, no problems were found.

GD bbPress Tools 1.4 has many changes to the way the included modules/tools are loaded, to avoid issues with bbPress 2.3 that changed some elements of its initialization procedure. Quote problems with lead topic are fixed, and few other things tweaked and improved. BuddyPress signature editing is changed to include selection of the profile fields group where to add the signature editor.

Both plugins require WordPress 3.3 (or higher, supporting latest 3.6 Beta #1) and bbPress 2.1 (or higher).

BBCodes for YouTube and Vimeo now allows you to use full URL to video, not only video code. Signature editor is update to format added with bbPress 2.1/2.2. There are many updates related to loading of plugin modules, initialization and files enqueue method for full compatibility with bbPress 2.3 initialization procedure.

WordPress 3.2 is no loner supported, and don’t attempt to run this new version with WP 3.2, it will fail. WordPress 3.3 or newer versions are supported. jQueryUI and other libraries are updated to latest versions. jQuery custom code is also updated and jQuery 1.7.1 is required. Changes made make plugin compatible with latest jQuery 1.9 and upcoming WordPress 3.6.

All fixes added to Toolbox plugin over past 2 months are now added into free plugins and with that quotes, attachments and signatures work as expected. Signature editing support is available with BuddyPress also. Plugins support dynamic roles in bbPress 2.2 and have usual enqueue method for loading JS and CSS fixing few issues with those reported before.

Dynamic roles are added to replace default roles in WordPress and to help sort out problems with capabilities. So, GD bbPress Toolbox will now show only dynamic roles in all its settings if you upgrade to bbPress 2.2.x, users of older bbPress version will still see all roles. Toolbar menu options are expanded with links to new bbPress tools pages.

Latest bbPress 2.2.1 was used for testing, and no issues were found with GD bbPress Toolbox. Some styling problems were fixed, related to use of TwentyTwelve theme. Also, some minor issues with WordPress 3.5 admin side styling are taken care of.

BBCodes List Panel

Most of the changes and new features are BBCodes related. Plugin now has third group of BBCodes called restricted. These codes will be available to admins also, and even that can be disabled. Two codes are here: Note and IFrame. Handling of codes is enhanced, allowing you to use filters to disable any code and to strip disabled codes from user submitted topic or reply. Also, function is added that returns list of available codes to the current user (or list of all available codes), with code name and examples.

New BBCodes in this version include: Anchor, Email (with anti spam bot protection display), NFO (info file with ASCII art), Embed (using WP eEmbed supported websites), Webshot (image with screenshot of an URL) and IFRAME. YouTube and Vimeo codes are improved.

New enhanced settings are added to prevent bbPress from overriding URL’s to user profile when BuddyPress is used, in case you want to have forum profiles as a separate pages. Several PHP warnings and notices are fixed, and BBCodes bug when codes are not applied to the topic content when topic is displayed as lead topic from replies. Plugin now uses new jQueryUI 1.9.1 and latest qTip2 library. Core gdr2 library is also updated.

Settings panel got another new Feature group: Enhance bbPress. Right now, there is only one option, to enable display of lead topic in the topic thread. More options to come. German and Serbian translations are added. But most important set of changes deal with the way content hooks are added by quotes, signatures and attachments modules. New method adds hooks to modify content only when page header starts and this should eliminate any problems some of these hooks can cause (for instance, BuddyPress Activity Stream where signature can end up in the content).

Several important bugs are fixed: proper detection for the topic/reply when adding signature, signature and quote were not working with lead topic enabled, quote link was not displayed in some cases and attachments content modification was using actions instead of filters.

Users panel columns

To help with management of users and see activity in forums, you can use two additional columns on the admin side user panel for topics and replies counts. Counts also link back to the topics and replies lists filtered by user. You can activate this from the GD bbPress Toolbox Settings panel (Integration options).

New BBCode is added for line break: BR. Major change is made to the views added by the plugin, you can set up title and slug (used in the URL for view) and new views are added for displaying posts added in the past one week or one month. Toolbar menu got some minor changes.

As for the bugs fixed, most of them are related to quotes: quote option wasn’t obeying the display rules, order of registration of quote hooks was breaking oEmbed integration, IE7 and IE8 had problems with quote code (trim and scroll), and when fancy editor was active, quote wasn’t working with HTML version of the editor. There was issue with views that had no results, they were leading to 404 page in some cases.

This release covers the plans I had for 1.2 version, and until work starts for 1.3 version, only minor bug fixing releases are expected. You can check out the plugin roadmap and if you have any issues with the plugin, please report them in the forum.

All three plugins have updated FAQ entries, translation strings, readme files. Several bugs are fixed in all plugins, and new translations are added, with POT file updated. BuddyPress using bbPress plugin for site wide forums is compatible with all 3 plugins. BuddyPress profile editor for signature

Since there were some issues with BuddyPress, there are some updates in this version to address that. Signature for the forums is also editable through the BuddyPress user profile page. Plugin is tested with BuddyPress 1.6.1 with bbPress 2.1.2 set for site wide forums. Plugin will not work with group forums powered by BuddyPress built in forums! Quotes, signatures, attachments work with BuddyPress/bbPress combination. Some of the features depend on the theme used, so if you use custom BuddyPress themes, all filters and actions present in original theme, must be present is in your theme also.

Other new features include option to track when the last user visit to any forum, topic or reply was. Based on this data, new View can be used to display only topics that are new or have new replies posted after the last user visit.  This feature works only for logged in users. Another view can be used to display new posts in the last 24 hours.  Widget with similar features is also added, allowing you to set the timeframe for the new posts topics.

Main gdr2 library is updated along side with jQueryUI and jQuery Multiselect libraries to solve issues with WordPress 3.5 and jQuery 1.8. Bug fixes include problems with toolbar menu, quote was including attachments and one of the embed filters was included twice.

Problem was caused by the changes in bbPress 2.1 that handled bbPress query loop differently, and the toolbar integration code in GD bbPress Toolbox used this loop causing the issues with adding and editing new forums on the admin side. Beside this, new gdr2 library is included, and some other minor changes made.

Same bug was present in the GD bbPress Tools (free plugin), and that one is also fixed with 1.2.4 version.

You can’t use our bbPress free plugins together with GD bbPress Toolbox. Here is the easy step by step info to make sure that transition is done right.

1. Disable GD bbPress Attachments, GD bbPress Tools and GD bbPress Widgets plugins.
2. Install and activate GD bbPress Toolbox Pro.
3. All the settings from 3 free plugins should be transfered to the new plugin.
4. Open GD bbPress Toolbox Pro Settings panel.
5. Check all the settings to make sure everything is OK.
6. That’s all.
